A CHEDDAR student has been given a prestigious county award.
Olivia Owen, who is a member of Weston Aerobics Gymnastics Club, was given a 'highly commended' at the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards last month.
The 16-year-old Kings of Wessex student's award was to recognise her position in the GB Gymnastics Squad last year when she travelled to Las Vegas to compete in the American National Aerobics Championships.
Olivia has also been jointly named Young Sports Person of the Year for Cheddar's Lanes Awards, which she shares with former Kings student Dan Salway.
Olivia has been practising gymnastics since she was seven years old, when she used to do handstands against the sofa in her home.
