A HIGH number of runners turned up to the first in a new series of Weston events for 2011.
The monthly Prom Run, organised by Weston Athletics Club, featured 228 finishers at the end of the five-mile seafront course.
The races, which take place on the third Thursday of the month, have been running for more than 20 years.
Club member and race director Malcolm Gammon says the group is experiencing high numbers of entries for its events because of an apparent increase in running enthusiasts.
