An open day is being held at Cheddar Tennis Club on July 9.

Cheddar Tennis Club is holding an open day in the middle of Wimbledon fortnight.

While the world’s best players are battling it out in SW19, the club is inviting everyone locally to come and have a go in Cheddar.

The event will be held on the club’s courts at Sharpham Road playing fields on July 9. There is a mini tennis session for children aged four to 10 years from 9.30-11am and yellow ball tennis for those aged 11 and over from 11am-12.30pm. The afternoon is devoted to adults from 2-4pm.

Players of all abilities are welcome, from beginners to the more experienced. All equipment will be provided, players should just wear trainers and sports clothes.

On-court skills, drills and fun games will be run by head coach Stephen Pearce and club members will be on hand to provide information on the many opportunities at the club.

Reduced rate subscriptions are being offered to new members joining over the weekend.
