Weston Tennis Club is holding an open day on July 15.

WESTON Tennis Club is delighted to announce a post-Wimbledon fun-filled open day on July 15 from 11am-2pm.

The open day gives anyone interested in tennis a chance to see the facilities and come and see what’s on offer without obligation to join. The club offers opportunities for children of all ages, adult beginners and seasoned players interested in joining a thriving, friendly local club.

Everyone is invited to come and play for free at the club’s facilities comprising of five floodlit courts tucked away in Neva Road, close to the train station.

All open day visitors can participate in a prize draw with a one-on-one free coaching session with the club’s head coach, Jamie Allen, going to the lucky winner. There will be the opportunity to play for free and participate in fun games with rackets and refreshments provided.

In addition to extensive group and individual coaching for adult and juniors (aged five to 15), the club will be holding summerh camp courses for juniors in the summer holidays.

In addition to regular evening club sessions, the club enters six teams in various leagues. With two ladies’ teams and four men’s teams in the North Somerset League, the club is always keen to recruit additional players.

The club also holds general doubles sessions on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm and Sunday mornings from 10am.

Junior tournaments sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Weston-super-Mare have proved a popular part of the tennis programme.

Club chairman, Bob Wilson, said: “We are a friendly club and particularly welcome new members who have always felt a little apprehensive about joining a tennis club. We are keen to get more members of all ages and abilities to come along and take advantage of our LTA backed facilities.

“The club supplies balls for all members to use for club sessions and casual games between members. Our extensive coaching courses and regular sessions provide an excellent opportunity for beginners, intermediates and experienced players to enjoy tennis throughout the year.”
