Open match held on the Hawthorns

Shiplate Farm’s latest open match was held on the Hawthorns Lake.

THE Hawthorns Lake at Shiplate Farm was the venue for the latest open match.

The 13 anglers fought hard to get the fishes attention as the air became still and depleted in oxygen. John Hawkins (Bristol PO) on peg seven, fished maggot shallow to the left hand margin to bag up 75lb 14oz and win the match.

Second was Steve Howell (Shiplate Farm) peg 4, 40lb 8oz. Silvers went to Julian Pinkett (Bristol PO) peg 10, 6lb.

Section winners were Gordon Jones (Shiplate Farm) peg 2, 36lb 15oz, Roy Ede (Shiplate Farm) peg 9, 35lb 6oz and Andy France (Cadbury Angling) peg 14, 13lb 6oz.
