FOLLOWING another successful season, Weston’s biggest netball club is holding open trials on July 2 from 7-9pm at Priory Community School.

The club is looking tostrengthen all its current senior teams, but is especially looking for players wanting to play regional standard netball.

The club has grown in size and strength over recent years and is proud to now be able to call itself one of the best clubs in the South West of England. This was cemented this season with an impressive fifth place finish in Regional 1, the top division for regional standard netball in the country.

KINGFISHERS Netball Club faced their toughest opponents in their summer league group - Bobbies.

However, they came to the match with a determined attitude and fighting spirit resulting in an early lead. Jane (GS) stood up well against a constant barrage of physical defence sinking everything passed to her.

But without a doubt, the player of the match (for a second week running) was Kelly (GD). With excellent ball watching, she was able to secure numerous interceptions and made sure her opponent made no impact on the game.

Bobbies made a few tactical changes at half-time, resulting in a brief lack of concentration from Kings, but it was not enough to catch up the deficit and Kings well deserved the resounding 38-25 victory.

Undefeated, Kings finished top of the table and are through to the semi-finals.

New players always welcome at Hans Price Academy (8pm) on Mondays or check out
