THE Bristol Channel Federation of Sea Anglers held their annual Browning Trophy Sea Angling competition at Blue Anchor.

The match day was clear with no real wind and altogether an excellent chance for anglers to compete. Once again The Weston Outcasts team showed their excellent form by catching 50 per cent more in length than their nearest competitors.

First prize of 150 was taken by Phytos Yianni (Weston Outcast) with over two metres of fish that included a conger eel that was over 20lbs in weight and some pouting. All but two of the team of 10 weighed in, showing form right across the board.

The angler of the day, however, must be 11-year-old Brandon Pettit (Weston Outcast) who single handedly captured a bass of 4lb 8oz, a codling of 3lb and also a pouting of around 1lb putting him in the top five anglers on the day. Considering over 100 adult anglers took place, no mean feat.

The Weston Outcasts are holding their Burnham open on November 29 from noon to 4pm, signing on at the Bay View Caf at 10am. First prize of 250 and second prize of 150 will hopefully attract many anglers as well as the well renowned raffle table prizes.
