There was an overwhelming response to the Weston junior parkrun, with 119 children taking part.

The Weston junior parkrun kicked off with 119 children taking part.

Organisers were overwhelmed with the amount of support and they would like to thank all children, parents and volunteers that made the event a fantastic occasion.

Parkrun is a national initiative that brings communities together to enjoy running for fun. Kira Thorpe, who was run director, was particularly pleased there were lots of new runners to parkrun.

She said: “Local authority start-up funding was provided with the aim of getting more children active and you could see this was achieved. We would also like to thank Weston Athletic Club for their financial support.”
