FOR the second week in succession, Weston have had their Blue Square South fixture cancelled because of the bad weather spell.

Last week’s game against Boreham Wood was called off early on the Saturday morning and hopefully has been rearranged for Tuesday of this week.

Then the away fixture against Bishop’s Stortford was called off on Friday afternoon and is rearranged for Tuesday, January 11 (7.45pm).

In the quarter-final of the Somerset Premier Cup, Weston have been drawn away to old rivals Taunton Town. This game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, at Wordsworth Drive.

? In the season so far, Weston have shown a big improvement in their performances from last season. At the same stage of the season last time, Weston had played 19 games in the Blue Square South of which four were won, four drawn and 11 lost. They were also bundled out of the FA Cup, FA Trophy, after a replay, and Somerset Premier Cup at the first hurdle.

This time they have played 16 league games, of which six have been won, four drawn and six lost. In the FA Cup, they beat Gloucester City 2-0 away, but were knocked out by Salisbury City in the next qualifying round.

Their bad form in the FA Trophy continued by losing their first game to Dorchester Town, but in the Somerset Premier Cup they have reached the quarter-final where they will meet Taunton Town.

Their league programme started back on August with a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Boreham Wood and followed this up with a scoreless draw at Havant and Waterlooville. Then followed two defeats, away to Maidenhead and Farnborough Town, before ending the month with a draw at Eastleigh and a home win over Basingstoke.

September started with a 4-1 defeat at newly-promoted Dartford before picking up another point with a draw against Chelmsford. They lost to another new side away at Ebbsfleet before finishing the month by beating Gloucester 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Woking were visitors on October 2 and they lost 2-0, thanks to a brace from Marcus Duharty, but in the next game were bundled out of the FA Cup by Salisbury.

In an extraordinary league game at St Albans, Weston were losing 2-0 with barely 15 minutes left, but after bringing on Sahr Kabba, who has quickly become a favourite with the crowd, they turned the game around to record their only away win so far 4-3.

Weston then picked up another point with a scoreless draw against Hampton and Richmond before ending the month with a defeat at Braintree.

November started with a home defeat against Lewes before knocking Bishop Sutton out of the Somerset Premier Cup. Back in the Blue Square South, they beat Thurrock and got their revenge over Maidenhead by winning the home fixture 3-1. They were dumped out of the FA Trophy by Dorchester before the weather called a halt to the proceedings.
