FIVE gymnasts from Weston Aerobic Gymnastics represented Great Britain last weekend at the French Open and World Series in Chambrey. The gymnasts were part of a squad of 31 who where selected to represent their country.

Trina Rose competed as an individual and then joined teammates Flora Lacy and Livs Owen to compete in the Group 2 trios, coming 10th and just missing a place in the finals. This is the first time this trio have represented Great Britain so the experience will put them in good stead for the future and hopefully the European championships later this year.

In the Group1 pairs, Matt Saunders and Abi Butterfield got through to the finals with their first routine and knowing they had it all to play for, upped their game and performed a technically good routine and then had a nail-biting wait to find out that although they had improved their score they had the silver medal.

Matt and Abi have no time to rest on their laurels as they train with the British squad again this weekend getting ready for the Welsh championships and then the American Nationals in July.
