OVER 20 people took part in Cheddar Tennis Club's annual punch-up between Christmas and New Year.
There was absolutely no violence involved, just hot mulled wine, mince pies and plenty of good competitive tennis for players to run off the festive excesses. The club was fortunate to pick a pleasant afternoon for the event with no rain, snow or ice to disrupt proceedings.
Players changed partners every seven games, keeping their individual scores, and at the end of the tournament the winners were Steve Halls and Ruth Rogers, who each received a bottle of wine.
