Three martial artists celebrated when they all passed their senior tae kwon do gradings.

LEANNE Kirk, Dawn Emmery and Tim Martin all had something to celebrate when they passed their senior tae kwon do gradings.

The trio donned their freshly pressed white doboks in front of a tough judging panel including 8th Dan Black Belt Senior Master Ron Davidson and were approved with merits.

Leanne, a now qualified 3rd Dan Black Belt, Dawn, a 2nd Dan Black Belt and Tim, obtained his 1st Dan Black Belt, impressed the four-strong panel with their knowledge and sparring techniques.

The two ladies have been training for a combined time of 24 years are currently in pursuit of their assistant instructor qualifications and are ecstatic with their new ranked identities.

The trio train at Mark Clough’s Tae Kwon Do Club in Weston and they have proved themselves worthy and performed professionally and proudly in front of their peers and the public.

This was also a day when the club’s principal instructor, Mark Clough achieved his 6th Dan Black Belt. Mark has been training in excess of 30 years and was taken aback by his achievement, alongside Master Davidson, who also gained his 8th Dan Black Belt to Senior Master.

Training takes place on Thursdays (7pm) and Sundays (6pm) at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre. The first two lessons are free.
