SWIMMERS from Weston Swimming Club achieved the qualifying times to enable them to compete at the ASA national age group championships in Sheffield

SWIMMERS from Weston Swimming Club achieved the qualifying times to enable them to compete at the ASA national age group championships in Sheffield.Chris Knight (17), Ben Simpson (14) and Lucy Titchin (13) swam exceptionally well. Chris raced well and clocked a time of 25.74 seconds in the men's youth open 50m freestyle. Ben swam to victory and a gold medal in the 4 x 400 freestyle relay and he also achieved a personal best time in the individual 100m freestyle. Lucy picked up a bronze medal in the 13-year 100m freestyle and she also gained a seventh place in the 200m freestyle and came 16th in the 400m freestyle.All three swimmers train at Weston Swimming Club, however Ben and Lucy also train at Bath University with the age group squad.Mark Skimming, coach of the age group squad at Bath, said: "It shows what a good job the local swimming clubs are doing in providing a great foundation for the young swimmers that come to us."Weston Swimming Club offers competitive and non-competitive swimming, learln to swim lessons and water polo.
