THE Somerset Dickies Rebels will look to break new ground in 2011 as they are to adopt the National Autistic Society (NAS) for the season with the joint aim of raising both the profile as well as funds for the society.

“As far as I am aware, we have never done anything like this at Somerset before,” said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock, “but one of our aims is for the Rebels to become a bigger part of the community, and one of the NAS local facility centres, Somerset Court, is just a stone’s throw away from the Oak Tree Arena.”

“The idea was the brain-child of our press officer, who has first-hand experience of those on the autistic spectrum as his partner’s daughter suffers from the condition, and it got the immediate support of the Rebels management team.”
