Somerset Rebels went top of the Premier League after beating Berwick Bandits at home.

SOMERSET Rebels took top spot in the Premier League with an excellent 53-41 victory over Berwick Bandits at the Oaktree Arena.

Despite missing three riders involved in the world under-21 final at Coventry, the Rebels dominated the meeting, with Jason Doyle, Jesper Monberg and James Wright all hitting double figures.

Wright topped the scoring charts with 15 (paid 16) and he was backed up by Doyle and Monbert posting 13 (paid 14) and 11 (paid 12) respectively. Alex Davies weighed in with nine points and Carl Wilkinson netted six.

With just one away fixtures left at Scunthorpe, the Rebels are pushing for a top two finish and the end of season play-offs.

Plymouth will provide the next home opponents, but not before the Oak Tree Arena hosts the Premier League Pairs Championship tomorrow night (Fri), on the eve of the British Grand Prix.

Somerset host the pairs’ championship for the sixth successive year and will be represented by Jason Doyle and James Wright.

The meeting brings together the top two riders from 10 of the 13 club’s that comprise the Premier League. The rider parade will commence at 7.10pm with the first race getting underway at 7.30pm.
