THE Somerset ‘Dickies’ Rebels are starting their 2011 season in a big way with defending Elite League champions the Coventry Bees the opposition for their season opening match tomorrow (Fri).

Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock said: “Alun Rossiter, who was my mentor last year, promised when the season ended he would bring a full Coventry side to the Oak Tree Arena for a challenge match.”

There will be a disco in the Oak Tree clubhouse after the conclusion of the meeting at which the riders will be present. Additionally, Coventry is planning to have a special set of race-jackets made up for the match that will then be signed by the riders and auctioned off after the meeting.

The Rebels have secured the services of British champion, Chris Harris to ride at No 1, meaning an adjustment in the line up so that all seven of the 2011 Somerset team will get a ride as part of the meeting.
