OVER 80 of North Somerset's top athletes got together at Churchill Sports Centre for the fifth annual sportshall sports day.

Eleven records were broken, as the athletes were kept busy. Multiple winners included Will Binnington (Gordano), Ryan Fowler (Gordano), Anthony Tyrell (Broadoak), Laura Statham (Gordano), Sophie Thomas (Worle), Jamie Elswood (Golden Valley), Aidan Paul (Yatton), Ada'ora Chigbo (High Down) and Pippa Reilly (Yatton).

Performance of the day came from Backwell's Chloe Buck. A majestic performance against superb opposition, smashed the previous record, and is exciting for the track season coming up.

The Year 5-6 event allowed NSAA to make selections and recommendations to the Avon selectors. From this group, 23 athletes were selected in the 40 strong squad of Bath, Bristol & South Gloucestershire athletes, who are favourites to retain their titles at the South West Sportshall Athletics Championship.
