Renegades’ David Williams (3) and Paul Hayward (-3) won their matches despite having to overcome Simon Thomas and John Barker both 11 and Rick Hutchinson with 10. Against Williams, Hutchinson won the first leg on 18, only to lose narrowly on 20 and 19. Rich Parker (8) was unlucky to lose after three close sets. Renegades won 6-3.

In Group A, Vets A consolidate their top place with a 7-2 winning match over Winsc Wayfarers. Colin Lewis (2) and Roger Crump (2) fought hard for every point against Phil Yates (10) Sam Mullick (9) and Rich Parker (8). Ann Sandford’s success was against Mullick in three.

Wayfarers had a better result over C & C Banwell. Simon Kneeshaw (9) and Phil Yates (10) won all three sets. Banwell’s Max Jeremiah (12), Rick Hutchinson (10) and Beth Atkinson (15) beat Rich Parker (8). Wayfarers won the match 6-3.

In Division 2, it was a close match between equally matched teams which was only decided in the doubles. Flamingos’ Graham Cheeseman won all his singles in two. Nigel Andrews with two wins and a loss against Wayfarers’ combined with Sam Mullick clinched the match 18-17 with a close doubles.

Wayfarers also had a close encounter against C & C Banwell, both playing with only two players. Rich Parker and Phil Yates fell to Banwell’s Max Jeremiah in four and five, but both defeated Beth Atkinson.

The Banwell pair played well in the doubles and just had the edge over Wayfarers, giving them the match narrowly 18-15.

C & C Cobras and Winsc Warriors had an enjoyable match with close games, but it was Cobras who walked away with a 30-3 match win. Rick Hutchinson won without loss, Simon Thomas lost one to Warriors’ Anne Baker and John Barker conceded one each to Baker and Dave Parker.

In Division 1, Rob Hansen came out on top in the contest between Totterdown Revolutions and Winsc Rebels. Hansen took all three for Rebels, though needing the fourth against Kiem Mu and taken to five by Ken Voong.

Rebels’ Dave Hunt with two and Mike Baker’s one put Rebels in the lead, Voong and Mu won the doubles for the extra point against Hansen and Hunt with a 6-4 match win for Winsc Rebels.
