WINSCOMBE Renegades showed why they head the Division 1 table of the Weston and District League with no matches lost.

Against their nearest league rivals Walton Wanderers, they produced an 8-2 match win. Gary Cattermole and Trevor Jones won their singles and the doubles. Wanderers' Vic Davies and Dave Grounsell both took a game from Cattermole.

Jones' match against Bill Bruton was closely fought, Jones just taking it in the fifth 11-9. Renegades' Dave Williams, fell to Grounsell and Bruton.

Vets B had a good win over Totterdown C with Vets' Darren Clapp winning all three singles, though pushed to five games by Totterdown's Rick Cross.

Jon Codd had two successes with a win in three over Gary Chell and in four against Mark Price. John Pollard beat Rick Cross. Codd and Clapp's doubles gave Vets the match 7-3.

Closely matched Winsc Rebels and Vets A enjoyed a tight match with Vets' Colin Lewis in fine form, starting slowly but moving up a gear to take all three singles with the loss of one game to Dave Hunt.

Despite Peter Butterworth being 5-0 up in the fifth against Hunt, Hunt came back strongly to beat him 11-9, for the first time in their many clashes. Rebels levelled the match five-all when Rob Hansen and Hunt beat Butterworth and Ann Sandford in the doubles.

In Division 2, C & C Clevedon drafted in Mike Withyman in the absence of a usual young player. Withyman won all his singles, but had to concede two games to Cleeve Cobras' Simon Thomas. Young Max Jeremiah took one game from Cobras' John Barker, and then went on to beat Rick Hutchinson in three close games.

Barker had a close five game set to just pull away 12-10 in the fifth against James Bessant. The doubles was won 3-1 by Barker and Thomas against Bessant and Jeremiah but the match went to Clevedon 22-15.

Kiem Mu and Steven Lu of Rookery Manor had good nights with both winning their singles in three straight against Winsc Warriors family team. Cath Smith, Dave Parker and Margaret Parker all defeated Kim Popham, Smith losing one game to Popham. Popham and Mu won the doubles 3-1 against the two Parkers. Rookery won 22-10.

Walton Village swept all before them in their match against C & C Clevedon. Matt Fligelstone took his without loss; Andrew Paisey conceded one game to Callum Parkins; Mike Elliot one game from Paisey and one from Warren Taylor. Taylor and Parkins had one game in the 3-1 doubles. Village won the match 30-4.
