Flanker Richard Bignell has returned to Weston RFC afte a three-year absence.

RICHARD Bignell’s return to Weston RFC last week gave the club a further boost in their quest to return to the National Leagues.

Former Bristol, Moseley and Coventry openside flanker Bignell, aged 28, first played for the club for two seasons from 2010/11, making 31 appearances and scoring 11 tries. He left at the end of 2011/12 due to work commitments.

Born in Bristol and educated at Colstons School, he was capped for England Students and will be another important addition to the Seasiders’ squad, joining new player/coach Glenn Dickson, the former Otago and Northampton fly-half.

Weston start their new season at Camborne on September 5 and in their first home match of the campaign, they will face Coney Hill at the Recreation Ground a week later. The kick-off will be at 3pm.
