Burnham 24 pts
BURNHAM were looking to gain momentum against a side that finished last season as champions of the Gloucester Premier League and had already started life well in Western Counties North with two wins.
The game started well for Burnham with a penalty by Cooper. The visiting forwards were to the fore, with Sam Coles, Mike Hocking and Ollie Streeter in good form. A break by the home side was stopped by Matt Love.
Burnham replied with a try by Streeter. A penalty try was awarded after his rampaging run for a 10-0 half-time lead.
After the break, Old Bristolians hit back with a couple of penalties. Burnham replied with a try from their own try line. Matt Love plucked a kick out of the air and fed Jordan Paul to race 95 metres to touch down, which was converted by Cooper.
The hosts replied with a try, but again Burnham hit back with a fine try. Good work by Luke Gowan, Tuttiett and Cooper set up Piper to touch down under the posts to make the final score 24-13.
On Saturday, Burnham take on Avon.
Burnham 2nd XV 7 pts
Crewkerne 1st XV 48 pts
What was thought to be a strong home side, turned out not to be the case they found themselves three tries down after the first 15 minutes. Burnham settled down for the next 10 minutes but were outscrummaged by the visiting pack.
Burnham managed to score before the half-time whistle with Lloyd Steward forcing his way over, converted by Will Conway.
The second half display by the home side was much improved, but the visitors ran in another four tries and one conversion.
Burnham Rusty Antlers will be dusting off their boots on October 6 with a friendly fixture against Imperial at the BASC (2pm), followed by the 1st XV v Barton Hill at 3pm.
