David makes 200th appearance

Weston RFC’s David Steele made his 200th appearance for the club’s United XV last Saturday.

WESTON RFC’s David Steele made his 200th appearance for the club’s United XV in their Somerset Premier match at Tor last Saturday.

Weston-born Steele, aged 41, was educated at Broadoak School and played junior rugby at Winscombe before joining the Seasiders’ colts squad.

He made his debut for the United in the 1989/90 season and has, so far, scored 71 tries.

For the past two seasons he has relocated to the back row, but as a wing he made 221 appearances for the first XV, scoring 56 tries and was awarded his 200 cap in 2003.

He has also played in 48 matches for the club’s third string, the Athletic.
