Weston Under-15s gave a fine all-round display to defeat a physically strong Taunton side.

Weston Under-15s produced a fine all-round team performance against a physically strong Taunton team.

Taunton were the first to score with a penalty, but Weston hit back and went on to score four unanswered tries before half-time.

Weston’s first try followed some good work by Dom Marshall and passing out to Kyron Pearce to score. Pearce scored the second of his four tries after a period of pressure, both tries converted by Lewis Paterson.

A number of Taunton put-ins were hooked back by Billy Howells as the pack drove forward. From a ruck, the ball was picked up by Pearce to score his hat trick try, again converted by Paterson.

Taunton went down to 14 players and Weston took advantage with a Paterson try to make the half-time score 28-3.

After the break, good defensive work from man of the match Brooklyn Chamberlain and fellow prop Andrew Turner cleared the ball upfield. From a penalty, Andrew Turner broke through to score.

Pearce scored his fourth try shortly afterwards, with Paterson securing the extras. Taunton rallied and scored two tries, but Weston replied with another try for Turner.

Weston’s final try followed some fine work by Mateuloh Abed, who made 35 metres before being bundled into touch. Weston stole possession from the line-out and Harry Strutt broke through to score.

The final try of the day went to Taunton, who scored with the final play of the game to make the final score 50-20 to Weston.
