Hornets are back in training in preparation for their third season in the National League.

Hornets pre-season preparations are underway, with a great turnout for the first two sessions at The Nest.

With Hornets preparing for their third season in National League 3 South West, they will be looking to build on last season. The side eventually finished in seventh spot last year and retained the Somerset Cup with an extra-time victory over local rivals Weston, giving a great platform for the current squad to press on and set themselves higher targets for the new season.

Recent weeks have seen confirmation that the coaching team of Jack Gadd and Jon Richardson have committed themselves to running the squad for another season.

With head coach, Jack Gadd, recently completing his Level 3 coaching qualification and the club making good progress towards the development of their new pitch and training facilities, all players at Hornets can be assured of top class coaching and training opportunities, whether playing National League, Somerset Premier or simply playing for enjoyment.

With the new season kicking off at the start of September, there will be lots of hard work put in before then. The young squad now contains lots of players with significant National League experience, and with the division taking on a new look with five different teams in the league this year, the side will be looking to kick on and get themselves in the mix for a top three finish.

The new clubs cover a wider geography with Camborne, Launceston, Salisbury, Bracknell and Bromsgrove providing new opposition this year. On the face of it a lot more travelling, but geographically at least Hornets will be well placed in a central position.

Preparation should include the announcement of some exciting new signings and see members of last year’s Colts moving up to senior rugby over the coming weeks.

Some challenging pre-season fixtures have also been confirmed against Glamorgan Wanderers, Exmouth and Clifton.

All players wanting to join the club are welcome to turn up for pre-season training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at The Nest, 7pm start.
