Former Kings of Wessex pupil Jessica Cooksey has been picked as a part of an England Under-20 squad to play rugby in Canada.
A 17-year-old girl from Axbridge has been selected as a member of the England Ladies Under-20 rugby squad to play in Canada over the next few weeks.
Jessica Cooksey, a former Kings of Wessex pupil and now attending Hartpury College, will be part of the 26 women squad to play in Nova Scotia.
Head coach Jo Yapp said: “This tour to Canada is a fantastic opportunity for us. It allows us to build on the time we have already had together this season as a squad and continue developing the players that are coming through the women’s pathway.
“Getting to play three away matches, including against Canada in Canada will be a tough challenge, but also an exciting opportunity for this group of players.”
It has been a very busy year for Jessica, who has already played for the USA invitational side Atlantis in the International Las Vegas Sevens in February, competed for her college at the Rosslyn Park Sevens, played for England in the inaugural home nations Under-18 sevens in Edinburgh and Birmingham and represented GB in the European Championship Sevens in Vichy in April.
