An injury to influential player Parker took the gloss off Hornets' emphatic victory.

Hornets 60 pts

Cirencester 8 pts

HORNETS started the livelier and had a Jermaine Jones penalty on the board after just two minutes.

The Hornets pack were dominant and had the visitors on the retreat from the off, with big ball-carrying No 8 Parker creating inroads deep into Cirencester territory.

One such charge into the 22 on eight minutes saw him fall awkwardly resulting in a serious arm injury that needed hospital treatment. Unfortunately, he will now be out of action for some weeks.

His replacement Geddes covered in his inimitable style, but the home side took a while to adjust and Jones dropped a goal on 20 minutes to settle things down.

A good drive from the forwards from a five metre scrum saw Collings touch down on 28 minutes. Jones converted the first of seven on the day to add to his previous two scores.

The final play of the half saw Gadd hit the line at pace and with the full-back to beat, Vinnicombe came off his wing in support and benefited with a try under the posts, Jones converting for a half time lead of 20-0.

Cirencester rallied on the restart when a quick tap penalty was taken, Geddes was adjudged to have interfered and was shown a yellow card. Cirencester made the most of the numerical superiority and scored 10 unanswered points through a penalty and a converted try.

Back to full strength, Hornets stretched their lead when Chase scored the first of his two tries. Hornets’ dominant pack was now demolishing the Cirencester eight at every scrum and were penalised for over vigorous scrummaging.

This made no difference as Hogarth ghosted in for a try. The final quarter saw Chase add a second in typical style and Gadd get on the score sheet with a try, just reward for his efforts.

Cornish added a brace for good measure as the Cirencester defence tired. Jones rounded of the afternoon as he had started converting all for a personal tally of 20 on the day, all from the boot.

Gordano 2nd XV 10 pts

Hornets 2nd XV 10 pts

With a changed side from last week, the seconds travelled to Gordano. Hornets took the lead when Ashfield kicked a penalty for the only score of the half.

After the break, Nash came on for Chenoweth, Toman for Speller, Graves for Hallett and Burrell for Ashfield.

The home side took the lead when Hornets were turned over and they scored an unconverted try. Gordano were rewarded another try to increase their lead.

Hornets had a chance to score, but Ashfield lost control of the ball over the line. Following more attacking play, Speller picked up a loose pass and ran in from the 22, only to be ankle tapped causing him to collide with the post.

As he hit the front of the pad, the try was given with Ashfield adding the extras to draw level.
