Winscombe Ladies player Liliana Podpadec captained an Emerging Wales team to victory over an England Talent Development Group that contained three of her former team-mates Jess Cooksey, Florence Long and Iona Antwis at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff.

All of these players were part of the Winscombe Under-18 team that last year became national champions.

Liliana had an impressive game, carrying strongly into the England 22 to set up Wales’s first try and scoring their second try herself.

This is a great honour for Winscombe RFC who has embraced girls’ and women’s rugby like no other club in the region. In addition to the four players on show in Cardiff, Sophie Peters and Lucy Burgess have been included in the England Under-18 sevens squad and Rhian Hughes is part of the Ireland Under-18 squad.
