Winscombe record their second victory

Winscombe 2nd XV recorded their second victory of the season away at Burnham.

Winscombe seconds travelled to Burnham with a strong squad and chalked up their second win of the season.

The visitors opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 11th minute by Steve Pugh.

Ware’s persistence produced a loose ball and Stuart Warren picked up and force his way to the line for the opening try. Pugh converted.

Burnham got back into the game with a penalty after 17 minutes, before good work by Adam Sinden and Ed Bourton led to a try for George Marsh. The hosts replied with a try to make the score 10-15 at the break.

After the break, Paul Chilcott’s offload led to a try for Luke Gallagher, converted by Pugh. Three minutes later, Burnham replied with a converted try, but not to be outdone, Winscombe picked up a bonus point with their fourth try for Pugh.

Winscombe put the game to bed with two more tries for Greg Brown and Jim Rutherford, one converted by Pugh.

With two minutes to play, the Burnham ouside-half again proved to be a handful and Burnham scored a try, crashing over from a five-metre penalty.
