Yatton Rugby Club’s under-16s finished their summer fitness campaign with a gruelling session of circuits and shuttle-run sprints at the club.

More than half of the team turned up for three Sundays in a row to work on their fitness and the main principle behind the training was on using their own body weight against gravity.

Players were put through their paces with exercises such as the military style 'burpee' and the old-school favourites like press-ups, bunny jumps and squat thrusts.

And a Yatton club spokesman said: "The aim of this type of approach is to enable the players to develop and continue their personal training over the summer without the need for equipment or gym memberships.

"They were using exercises that can be done any time, any where."
