Weightlifter Russell Martin earned a gold medal at the orld Single Lift Powerlifting Championships in Wrexham, Wales.
Synergy Barbell of Weston, sent two members, Joanne Barwell and Russell Martin, to the World Single Lift Powerlifting Championships in Wrexham, Wales.
Nearly 400 lifters from around the world competed in the squat, bench and deadlift events, with the Weston duo competing in the deadlift competition.
Joanne, at her first international event finished in third place in the 53.5kg class with a 107.5kg deadlift, more than two times her own body weight. Russell took gold in the 100kg equipped category, with a personal best lift of 270kg.
