Weston St Johns 1

Keynsham Town Res 1

ST JOHNS would consider this two points dropped as they had enough chances to win the game comfortably.

Keynsham made things difficult for Saints and were lively on the break, with keeper Joe Malik forced to make several good saves. Gradually Saints settled and began to take control with Levi Marlow and Ross Stockhall threatening.

There were chances for Marlow and James Wotton before Stockhall’s shot was partially saved by the keeper, the rebound falling to Juzzy Flavell who scored.

Saints were on top and Jack Clark forced the keeper to make another good save. Just before half-time, Malik made an outstanding one-handed save.

Saints were a lot sharper in the second half with defenders Nick Jones, Andy Llewellyn, Mark Hearne and Dave Wilcox looking more comfortable against the Keynsham attack.

Saints had further chances to go ahead with Stockhall, Flavell, Marlow and Mark Adams all going close. With only minutes left, a defensive mix-up left a Keynsham striker unmarked in the area and he gave Malik no chance from close range.

Saints poured forward in search of the winner and Ryan Hodrien’s cross shot came back off the post and back into the keeper’s arms.

Weston Costcutters player of the match was Nick Jones.

Westland Utd 1

Coombe St Nicholas 2

WESTLAND United continued their poor run of results with defeat to visitors Coombe St Nicholas.

Reverting back to a 4-5-1 formation United started the game at a fast pace. Early chances for striker Ian Leadbetter and midfielder Ritchie Powell went begging. United were well on top with Correy Thomas putting some delightful crosses into the box.

Coombe weathered the early storm and took the lead from a corner, going into the break 1-0 up.

The beginning of the second half mirrored the first with United looking more likely to score. However, after losing centre-half Alex Read, United seemed to falter.

Coombe doubled their lead when a striker beat Sam Cooper in the United goal. Westland raised their game and pulled a goal back, Powell’s shot going in off the far post.

A crazy push on the Coombe goalkeeper from Leadbetter led to a second yellow card and a sending off as Westland tasted defeat again.

Worle 1 Wells City Res 4

THIS was a game on paper Worle should have won, having previously beaten visitors Wells City 4-1 a few weeks ago.

Worle went a goal down after a defensive mistake. They equalised after a Jason Potter free kick was headed in by Brad Thomas, his first goal for Worle.

The second half was one that Worle can forget as they were poor and three second half Wells goals punished the home side.

Worle will have to be better next Saturday when they travel to Cheddar. Worle Reserves are home to Cleeve West Town A in a must win game.

Ludus man of the match went to Brad Thomas.
