Karting star Sam Stephens is currently leading in the Minimax class of the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Championship.

KARTING star Sam Stephens was in action in the penultimate round of the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Championships recently in which the Worle School student is currently leading the board in the Minimax class.

On the Saturday practice day, Sam achieved some competitive lap times, despite the deteriorating weather. On race day in challenging wet and windy conditions, 14-year-old Sam experienced some mechanical problems during the heats, but battled to come third overall in the final and achieve a podium finish again.

However, Sam’s lead has been narrowed and the last round of the championship on October 28 looks to be an exciting and close-fought contest, but Sam is determined to achieve his goal of becoming the Minimax champion of 2012.

Sam is next racing in the final round of the Dragon Challenge at Llandow Kart Track, near Cardiff, at the weekend which is a joint championship between drivers from Llandow and Sam’s home club at the Mansell Raceway, Devon.
