Winscombe rugby player has been selected to play for England Under-16s.

SAM Denham, who has played for Winscombe RFC since he was seven and has been involved with the Somerset county team over the past two years, has progressed to the Under-16 South West squad before moving on to the England national set-up.

He has now been selected to play three international matches for his country as first choice scrum-half at his age group and will feature in games against Canada, France and Scotland to be played at Wellington College in Crowthorne, Berkshire over the Easter period.

This is a tremendous achievement by Sam, who was born in Somerset and attends Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar and is a great credit to the Winscombe club where he has played his rugby.
