TWO primary school children have fought off competition to make their way through to the finals of a national tumbling contest.
Tumbling is a type of gymnastic sport which involves backflips, somersaults, flips and turns. Competitors take turns to spring down a 25-metre track – but only the hands and feet are allowed to touch the floor.
Archie Pickles is the male under-11 South West tumbling champion and will be taking part in the national finals in Stoke on May 2-3. Joining him will be the female under 11 silver medallist, Kayleigh Down.
The two youngsters attend Oldmixon Primary School, with Archie in year four and Kayleigh in year six.
