WESTON suffered their third Skrill South home defeat at the hands of a Hayes and Yeadind side, whose three second half substitutes had hands in all the goals.

The Seagulls gave a debut to new signing Bradley Middleton who slotted in well to the heart of the defence in place of the suspended Jamie Laird.

Weston controlled the first-half play with Ashley Kington just over in the first minute and visiting keeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz did brilliantly to turn Chas Hemmings’ strong effort that a slight deflection over his crossbar on 12 minutes for Weston’s second corner.

Later in the half, Hemmings twice went close, Martin Slocombe had a dangerous low cross cut out by the keeper, who also denied Dayle Grubb’s strong effort.

Unfortunately for Weston the second half was a different matter. Hayes brought on former Bath City, Salisbury and Newport County striker Jake Reid along with midfielder Tom Bird and on 52 minutes they combined to send Reid through the home defence and round keeper Lule Purnell, who had come off his line, to open the scoring, slightly against the run of play.

After this reverse, Weston tried hard to get back, with Naby Diallo forcing a full-length save from Jaimez-Ruiz, while Kington had a strong shot beaten out by the keeper.

Hayes struck again on 67 minutes when Bird set up Luke Williams whose pace saw him through the home defence and beat Purnell. Three minutes from time, third substitute Allen Bossman crossed for Reid to beat Purnell from close range.
