WESTON'S inconsistent form came to the fore as they gave one of their poorest performances of the season and allowed an average Bath side a flattering win.

After two pervious excellent displays, hopes were high that they could possibly record their first-ever win at Twerton Park, but after the first goal went in, they fell to pieces and Bath could have won by a bigger margin.

Fielding the same side that started the second half against Braintree, Weston forced an unsuccessful corner on two minutes, but when Bath forced their first corner on 16 minutes, Chris Holland's firm header had to be scrambled away by the defence.

In fairness, Weston created the best chance of the half on 27 minutes when Marc McGregor forced a smart save from keeper Paul Evans with a strong header from Mike Green's cross.

For the second half, Bath brought on Richard Evans for Adam Connolly and he changed the complexion of the game.

Playing wide on the left he caused problems with probing runs and from his low cross on 57 minutes, Dave Gilroy opened the scoring from a couple of yards. Two minutes later keeper Ryan Northmore was beaten by Darren Edwards' effort, but Tom Parrinello cleared off the line and then Gilroy again had the ball in the Weston net, but was pulled back for offside.

Weston were reduced to 10 men on 61 minutes when skipper Charlie Comyn-Platt was shown a red card by Southampton referee Andy Davies for upending Gilroy. Weston brought on Ben Willshire for Dean Grubb to strengthen the defence, but Bath struck again on 72 minutes when from Evans' corner kick, Holland scored with a thumping header.

Weston's misery was completed on 76 minutes when from another Evans' corner, this time from the right, Matt Coupe scored his first goal of the season from the narrowest of angles.
