WESTON have been handed a bye in the first round of the Somerset Premier Cup competition.

Also handed byes are Bristol Manor Farm, Keynsham Town, Frome Town, Larkhall Athletic, Taunton Town and Chard Town.

Among the first round ties, Bishop Sutton entertain Clevedon Town while Clevedon United are home to Portishead Town. These game to be played week commencing October 5.

Weston have confirmed they will be sticking with the black and white colour combination they employed last season.

The campaign saw the Seagulls celebrate their 60th anniversary and to mark the occasion the club opted to play in white shirts, black shorts and black socks, similar to the white shirts, black shorts and red socks combination they wore in their inaugural season in 1948.

In another change the club have ditched the traditional all yellow away strip in favour of an all royal blue number.

The club have opted to play their mid-week home fixtures on Tuesday evenings in the new season.

The Seagulls switched to Mondays last season and were rewarded with significantly better crowds than they had previously attracted on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, however the management and playing staff at the Club are understood to have requested an extra 24 hours to recover from any knocks or scrapes sustained on the preceding Saturday.

It is understood that kick-off times will remain at 7.45pm.
