AFTER their midweek drubbing at bottom club Boreham Wood, Weston bounced back to record their highest-ever score in the Blue Square South and inflicted only the second league defeat of the season over Bromley.

Bromley had Tutu Henriques dismissed on 19 minutes when he brought down Sahr Kabba when the last man in defence, but by that time they were two goals in arrears and beginning to look a beaten side.

From the side beaten on Hertfordshire, Martin Slocombe replaced Jamie Laird in defence, Justin Porter and Kane Ingram, both back from suspension, replaced the Grubb brothers Dean and Dayle, Ben Kirk was in for Justin Porter and Sahr Kabba led the attack in place of Marcus Duharty.

As in midweek, Weston started in dominant form, forcing their first corner on two minutes. Slocombe’s flag kick was cleared only as far as Kirk who played a neat lob for Jamie Price to beat former Arsenal youth team keeper Craig Holloway from eight yards with a strong header.

By this time, Kabba was tormenting Bromley’s giant central defenders Henriques and Jerrome Sobers and when he burst through on 11 minutes he was brought down by Holloway, earning a penalty and Holloway was lucky in only picking up a yellow card from Salisbury referee Ian Parsons. Nat Pepperell stepped up and converted his second penalty of the week.

Kabba was at it again and this time was taken down by Henriques, who was shown a red card. Weston were awarded a free kick on 21 minutes on the edge of the penalty area and Slocombe left Holloway standing still for the third.

Later in the half, Pepperell forced a corner and twice went close, while Kabba fired narrowly over.

Weston kept up the pressure in the second half with Kabba hitting the angle of post and bar on 56 minutes and they scored again on 78 minutes when Trowbridge made a penetrating run down the left, cut in on the by-line and laid off for Dayle Grubb, who had replaced Ingram on the hour. Grubb spotted Kirk coming in support and set him up to slam the ball past Holloway.

If Bromley were glad to see the back of Kabba on 79 minutes, they soon regretted it as Duharty came on and continued the mayhem.

Duharty was soon in the action, heading past Holloway from new loan signing from Plymouth Argyle, Ryan Leonard, who had replaced Pepperell on 85 minutes and five minutes later Duharty struck again, this time from Slocombe’s cross. Gilbert completed the exercise in injury time, again from a Slocombe cross.
