Newton Abbot 7

WESTON'S unbeaten season almost came to an end in a tense yet thrilling encounter with Newton Abbot at Hutton Moor.

Weston were taken by surprise and let in some early first quarter goals. Weston then settled, but Newton Abbots keeper proved to be a hard man to past, the first quarter ended 4-0 to the visiting team.

During the interval, coach Coles and captain Vincent had some motivational words which seemed to work. Weston started to control the ball and find the net with goals coming from Forbes, Sean Coles and Edwards. This quarter ended with the score 3-5 to Newton Abbot.

Weston struggled yet again to find the back of the net and they failed to score again, but some fine defending from Etchells, Rhian and keeper Simmonds helped keep the visitors at bay as Newton Abbot led 7-3.

Weston started the fourth quarter poorly, but managed to score goals from Sean Coles (2) and Maloney (2) to level the score at 7-7.

Man of the match sponsored by the Woolpack was shared between Nick Edwards and Curtis Watkins.
