WESTON 2s went top of the Bristol League first division thanks to another fine win on Saturday.

The match started off tight, with goals going with the centre, and at the end of the first quarter the scores were even.

Then in the second, Weston started to kick it up a gear, with Hellen Gilmore and Becky Lewington making things tough for the Romans shooters and Tasha Drake and Rachel Mason keeping the pressure on down the court.

By the end of the first half, Weston had sneaked ahead. In the third, Romans started to catch up again, and were within just a few goals, but Weston pushed forward again, and thanks to some brilliant shooting by Jara Lapham and Mel Chilman, the team were ahead by 11 by the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter, Weston kept pushing, Gilmore, Lewington and Drake’s pressure in the Roman’s goal third resulted in some fantastic interceptions and rebounds.

These, combined with some lovely feeds in the circle by Bonnie Beachgood and Mason and flawless circle play by Lapham and Chilman ensured the win. Player of the match went to Jara Lapham.
