Shipham spurned several chances to record victory over AFC Nailsea.

Shipham 1

AFC Nailsea 1

SHIPHAM were left frustrated with a 1-1 draw with AFC Nailsea.

The home side started well and took the lead after just eight minutes, when Kyle Hobden found Matty Hollow.

But the lead was to be short lived as just a minute later Nailsea equalised when the ball was flicked on to a Nailsea player who had time and space to finish past Sam Hughes.

Dominating the rest of the half, Shipham could not find another goal as Chris Green and Kyle Hobden ran riot on the wings, while Hollow and Lee Stacey had shots blocked.

AFC Nailsea came back into the game in the second half, and Hughes made a great save in the Shipham goal. The hosts continued to put pressure on Nailsea and were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to gom but Hollow thundered his shot against the crossbar as the game ended 1-1.

Man of the match went to Kyle Hobden.

Portishead Town B 1

Worle Rangers 1

RANGERS were favourites to win against their bottom of the table opponents, but were held to a draw.

Rangers broke the deadlock halfway through the first-half following a teasing Hannam corner which was met by Wilson, who volleyed home from close range. After the goal, Owen, Williams, Willment and Nutt all went close.

Rangers started the second half under slightly more pressure, but the back four withstood the attacks with Knight biting into tackles.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men and with time running out, a long throw-in was headed towards the back post which Brown unfortunately turned into his own net, straight past Jakeman..

There were strong performances from Nutt, Willment, Bray and Knight, but it was skipper Wilson who was awarded the Curry Garden man of the match award.

Congresbury A 0

Shipham Res 4

THE game began well for Shipham, their sharp, crisp passing stretching Congresbury and creating a number of half chances.

The score remained 0-0, thanks to several top draw saves by the home sides’ goalkeeper, with Sam Wright, Sam Nicholas and Liam Ryan all being denied.

The visitors took the lead when Nicholas teed up Wright to smash the ball home. Straight from the restart, Wright returned to favour as Nicholas gave Shipham a 2-0 lead.

After the break, Shipham carried on from where they left off. A rare touch for the keeper Stone allowed him to kick the ball downfield, and Wright finished well from 30 yards out to make it 3-0.

With the game all but won, a great solo run from Brad Thomas resulted in him being brought down on the edge of the box. Up stepped man of the match Rob Ireland, who made it 4-0 to the away side.
