Sidcot School's equestrian team have enjoyed national success at an event at Leighton Buzzard.

Following Sidcot School’s equestrian’s success at the national dressage finals at Addington Manor Equestrian, the winning streak continued.

The team of Sophie Lee (aged 12 from Crickham), Erin Crofts (13), from Axbridge, Lauren Wilkins (15) from Edington and Caiomhe Collery (14) from Stone Allerton, all rode fantastically well and achieved accurate tests at this impressive international veuue.

Their hard work was rewarded with a fantastic fourth place out of the 19 counties from across England who competed.

The following weekend, the team performed brilliantly again, representing Avon at the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) county show jumping finals at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.

The 70cm team consisted of Henry Blair (12), from Theale, Elsa Cardale (12), from Blackford, Erin Crofts and Sophie Lee. They were placed fifth overall which was a great result.

Henry and Elsa were joined by Lottie Gunter (13), from Wrington and Collery to be placed second out of a field of 34 teams from across the UK at 80cm. This qualified the team for the national finals in October – a fantastic achievement.

Headmaster Iain Kilpatrick said: “Congratulations are in order for a young team competing on relatively small horses, alongside the top equestrian schools in the country, they did amazingly well.”

All in all it was a great weekend for the Sidcot equestrian team, who are now looking forward to their next national competition at the NSEA Arena Eventing Championships at Hickstead at the end of May.
