Lympsham captain Jamie Howson top scores in their victory over Pucklechurch.

LYMPSHAM entertained Pucklechurch from South Gloucestershire and skipper Jamie Howson won the toss and elected to bat.

The hosts made a slow start and lost openers Luff and Tuttiett cheaply, but skipper Howson joined Rich Ford and the pair started to repair the damage.

Lympsham Concrete man of the match Howson was in fine form again and by the time he was dismissed the scoreboard was looking good.

Jason Parsons now joined Ford and with the score standing at 200 after 40 overs, Parson hit a quick 37 and a cameo innings by Rich Coles enabled the home side to post an imposing 242-5.

The visitors made a steady start with Francome anchoring the innings, but Lympsham bowlers Simon Pilgrim, Tom Gooding and Andy Russ kept it tight and Pucklechurch were steadily falling behind the run rate.

Despite a manful effort by middle order batsmen Watts and Griffiths, they eventually closed their innings on 219-6. This leaves Lympsham unbeaten in the early part of the season, sitting one place below early pace setters Coalpit Heath in the league table.

? Lympsham 2nd XI travelled to Pucklechurch and skipper Rod Simpson won the toss and decided to bat.

The visitors had an early setback when losing opener Rich Drew, but this brought young Liam Morris to the crease to join the experienced Andy Hall (66), and this pair took the score past the 100 mark.

When Morris was dismissed, skipper Simpson (44 not out) joined Trust Inheritance man of the match Hall and they increased the scoring rate and despite losing a few late wickets the visitors were able to post a respectable 196-6.

The hosts made a steady start, but lost wickets at regular intervals. Middle order batsman Rivers found it hard to keep partners and when the start of the final over came, Lympsham looked to have the match in the bag, with the home side requiring 17 from the last over to win.

But home batsman Mealing had other ideas and swung the bat, hitting Summers to all parts of the boundary, leaving his side requiring a boundary off the final ball for victory, but Summers limited Mealing to just two, and brought his side home to victory by just one run.

? Lympsham Sunday Development XI entertained Gordano Valley and skipper Tom Gooding won the toss and decided to bat.

Openers Craig Scriven (22) and Tom Counsell (46) gave their side an excellent platform and the good work was carried on by Jack Luff, who retired when reaching 50 and Gooding (49).

When this pair departed, young Adam Micklewright (18) carried on the good work allowing his side to post a respectable 203-4 in their allotted 40 overs.

In reply, the visitors lost a couple of early wickets, but Bowstock (27) and Kelly (38) steadied the ship. Lympsham stuck to their task, and with Ali Petheram (2-26), Gregory (3-26) and Window Merchants man of the match Adam Micklewright (3-10) bowling well, the visitors were bowled out for 156, giving the young Lympsham side an excellent victory.
