Defending Somerset Cup champions Hornets will face neighbours Weston at the Recreation Ground on April 29 (7.30pm) in this year’s final.

Hornets will seek to defend the Somerset County Cup when they face local rivals Weston on April 29 (7.30pm).

Rather than playing the match at a neutral venue, the two clubs have mutually agreed with the county management committee that the game be played Weston’s Drove Road Recreation Ground in front of what is certain to be a bumper crowd.

Hornets beat Wells 30-14 in last year’s final to lift the cup for the second time in their four appearances in the final, while Weston have won the trophy on 10 of their 15 finals, including winning three times in a row previous occasions from 2000.

The last time the two sides from the seaside town met was last season in National League Three South, when Weston made the short trip to win 22-20, before Hornets gained revenge with a 34-3 away victory. But Weston were relegated at end of the season.
