Somerset Vikings made it back-to-back West of England Premier League victories with a wonderful win at Worcester Jaguars.

In the first game played between the two sides, conditions were hot and sunny, and the Vikings roared through to open the scoring after five minutes through James Collings after good work by Daniel Brooker, who missed the conversion.

However, home pressure saw Vikings penalised for offside and the penalty led to a try for Jaguars to move ahead.

But the Vikings bounced back and saw Collings run 45 metres to score his second of the day, with Brooker slotting the kick to move back his side into the lead.

The game settled into a rhythm for the next few sets with neither team capitalising, but after 25 minutes Marcus Brooker found a gap in the Jaguar defence to put the ball down to the right of the posts with brother Daniel converting to make it 16-6.

Bad marking left the Vikings short of defenders and Jaguars made the most to come away with a converted try.

But with Vikings completing more sets than Jaguars the pressure resulted in a try from Conner Vickery after a great left-right switch, with Daniel Brooker adding two more points to his tally.

Jaguars came back quickly and Bruce Mclaren scored an unconverted try just on half time, but the Vikings started the second half just like the first to score unconverted tries from Marcus Booker and Andrew Bellamy.

The hosts came back with another try before in the 55th minute the Vikings showed their superior fitness and stepped up a gear.

The result saw another try from Marcus Brooker and two from Dan Hinton, the last of which came after a great run and offload from Collings before he converted cheekily from behind the posts.

Cam Hellier soon followed up and like Hinton popped the kick from the back up the sticks before the Jaguars went over once again through Aron Middleton with Carr adding the extras.

With seconds left on the clock Vickery scored his second try and Joel Gibson put the kick straight between the posts as the Vikings ran out 56-28 winners.

Vikings return to action against Reading Raiders at Hornets RFC on Saturday at 2.30pm.

"It was a fantastic win and it was great putting things into practice that we’ve worked on in training," said Vikings captain Sean Harrison.

"Our fitness and a strong squad helped us to grind down a tough Worcester team. We still have elements to work on before we play Reading Raiders next week."
