SIXTEEN-year-old Sophie Luff from Lympsham has once again benefitted from the support of Asda Weston and SportsAid to ensure that she continues to progress in her chosen sport of cricket.

All-rounder Sophie completed a successsful 2009 season with the bat and ball which resulted in selection for the England Under-17s Development squad. Sophie flies out to Cape Town at the end of March for two weeks where she will compete against teams from England and South Africa.

The financial support from SportsAid is very welcome as there are much more travel and training costs to incur. Extra kit is needed and Sophie can also have additional one to one training sessions, the money raised by Asda Weston from fundraising events helps towards this.

Sophie has developed her game through the youth set up at Weston Cricket Club. She has captained at age group and county level. This season she has decided to move her club cricket to Bath where she can compete in the Women's Premier League.
