SOPHIE Luff, who plays cricket for Somerset ladies, has been selected in the inaugural MCC Under-19 women’s squad to play in the UAE.
Sophie has been included in the 14-strong squad and it is the first time in the club’s 226-year history that an age group women’s side has been selected.
The MCC and Sport Arabia have combined to deliver the first Under-19 women’s ARCH Trophy in Abu Dhabi and Dubai as part of a wider MCC Spirit of Cricket Festival in the UAE.
Sophie will play in three 50-over group matches against Durham, Devon and Essex. The final of the competition will take place at the Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where the MCC will play Warwickshire in the traditional champion county fixture at the end of March.
