Cheddar Tennis Club’s Sarah Strawbridge raised nearly £800 for Children in Need.

Driven by her desire to help those less fortunate than herself, Strawbridge challenged herself to play tennis for 12 hours last Saturday to raise funds for the annual event,

The 2021 Lawn Tennis Association's Volunteer of the Year set herself a target of raising £250 for the charity she commenced play in the early light at 7am.

Entertaining a steady stream of club members on court throughout the day to keep her ambition alive, Cheddar's chairman and welfare officer played a mix of singles and doubles games and also participated in the club’s afternoon Harvest competition.

Junior members of the club Bella and Arloj helped Strawbridge complete her amazing 12-hour marathon finishing under floodlights at 7pm.

Gaining lots of support and admiration from friends, family, and club members her modest target was quickly exceeded and a final figure of £795 will be donated to the charity.
