A junior tournament held at Weston Tennis Club was well attended by members and their families.

Weston Tennis Club held a junior tournament which was well attended by members and their families.

The Under-10s event was keenly contested by nine enthusiastic players, split into two groups in a round-robin format.

The top two players in each group advanced to the semi-finals. Zsombor Bojthy beat the impressive Freddie Simmonds 7-5 and Louie Bush Evans was beaten by his brother Henry 7-6 in a match of high standard.

The final was won by the talented Zsombor 10-3 with a superb display of consistency.

The Under-14s event was also played in excellent spirit. The final was won by the dominant Oscar Byles, who defeated nine-year-old Alessa Yiga, the latter putting up an excellent fight despite her young age.

The Under-18s event was won by Rory Payton, who beat his opponent Ben Insley in straight sets.

The tournament was supervised by head coach, Jamie Allen, who holds a variety of junior sessions for youngsters aged five to 17.

Weston Tennis Club, based in Neva Road, caters for all ages and abilities. Play is possible all year round as it has five floodlit courts.
