IN the morning solo class race, Reg Bishop and Alan Sherlock went left with Tim Fisher taking the right side of the course.
The left paid dividends with Bishop gaining 300 metres on the following boats. However, Fisher never gave up, slowly making up ground to eventually cross the finishing line a boat length clear.
In the afternoon race, everyone had a poor start and in a repeat of the morning race, Bishop reached the windward mark first closely followed by Peter Knight and Bill Finch.
First and second places changed regularly with Bishop and Knight taking turns to lead until a nail biting finish with Knight taking the honours.
Race three had to be abandoned as a thunderstorm passed through.
